Eventus Recruitment Group are seeking a Trainee Fee Manager to join a prestigious Barristers Chambers located in Manchester City Centre. This role comes with the expectation of progression to take over the role of Fee Manager. The successful legal finance professional will be rewarded for their work with benefits including a 25-day holiday allowance plus bank holidays, a generous salary and a clear path for progression. This is a full-time permanent job with the possibility of some hybrid working.
Role Responsibilities
The successful Trainee Fee Manager will carry out a range of duties including:
- Fee collection work across Chambers’ practice areas, including actively engaging with barrister members in relation to their individual aged debts and participating in one-to-one aged debt review meetings as required.
- Monitoring the aged debt levels for Chambers’ top professional client firms, including frequency of payments and monitoring existing bespoke arrangements.
- Administering the workflow cycles, generating and distributing reminder fee notes and letters and dealing with issues arising.
- Working with professional clients to develop mutually beneficial relationships and internal systems to ensure the correct and efficient administration of the CCMS system. This includes but is not limited to prompt and accurate initial and continuing cost allocations and accurate data input.
- Dealing with requests for reductions of fees, including replies to Points of Dispute, Conditional Fee and inter parte cost negotiations.
Person Specification
The incoming Training Fee Manager will have experience in collections ideally within a legal setting. Also, to be successful for this job you will have the following knowledge and skills:
- Demonstrable experience of between two to three years of fee chasing and debt recovery in a barristers’ chambers or similar legal environment
- High level of numeracy and experience of interpreting numerical data
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- The ability to communication effectively and confidently with colleagues and Chambers’ external professional contacts
- Strong IT skills
- The ability to manage own workload but to also work collaboratively
Desirable
- An understanding of barrister aged debt reports and fee chasing cycles
- Experience of using CCMS for processing legal aid on-line
- Knowledge and experience of public funding streams
- LEX case management system experience or similar professional software
