Eventus Legal are seeking a Legal Cashier to join a law firm in Manchester, Greater Manchester. This is a full-time, permanent job position, working fully office-based from 9:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday. The Legal Cashier will join a fast-paced finance team, providing financial support locally and liaising with an international head office. Role Responsibilities
As Legal Cashier, you will support the firm's day-to-day financial operations and help maintain duties within this job will include:
- Recording client and office account transactions accurately and in line with the SRA Accounts Rules.
- Managing VAT returns, financial reporting and other core legal accounting responsibilities.
- Preparing monthly and annual management reports.
- Overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Developing and maintaining robust financial controls, identifying opportunities to improve finance processes.
- Supporting internal and external audits.
- Liaising with the firm's international head office on relevant finance matters.
- Traveling to the firm's London office when required.
Person Specification
This Legal Cashier job will suit an experienced law-firm finance professional who is confident working independently, managing competing priorities and maintaining a high level of accuracy. In addition, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience in a similar finance position within a law firm.
- Full knowledge and understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules, with a strong grasp of legal accounting principles.
- Proven experience of client account management, reconciliations and month-end closing.
- Experience of foreign currency and intercompany transactions.
- Previous experience acting as a firm's COFA or advising a COFA on SRA compliance matters.
- Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
- A positive approach to continuous learning and process improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- An AAT, ILFM or equivalent accounting qualification is desirable.
- Previous experience using Proclaim is desirable.
