Eventus Recruitment is seeking a Senior Legal Assistant to join a top tier ranked specialist and innovative law firm on a permanent, full time basis in Guildford, Surrey. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior legal assistant or senior paralegal to join a close knit team supporting senior solicitors on complex commercial property, litigation, corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters. The role offers a salary of £35-42k depending on experience, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, hybrid working after probation, free parking, and a friendly professional working environment.
Role Responsibilities
This is a key support role based in Guildford, Surrey working directly with senior solicitors and directors, providing assistance across a broad range of transactional and advisory work. The successful candidate will be trusted to manage tasks independently and to a consistently high standard. Duties within the Senior Legal Assistant role will include:
- Assisting solicitors throughout the lifecycle of transactions
- Undertaking property searches
- Drafting and submitting SDLT returns and ensuring payments are made
- Obtaining and managing indemnity insurance policies including no search insurance, chancel liability, and restrictive covenants
- Dealing with pre and post completion matters
- Providing litigation support including court bundling and electronic filing
- Chasing clients for outstanding information
- Managing incoming and outgoing post including scanning and digital filing
- File closing, deeds storage, and archiving
Person Specification
The successful Senior Legal Assistant will be confident, methodical, and motivated by working within a small specialist team where individual contribution is valued. Candidates from Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, or Paralegal backgrounds will be considered. You will be able to demonstrate:
- At least five years recent experience in a legal support role within a UK law firm
- Some property (residential or commercial), litigation, corporate, commercial, or regulatory law experience would be beneficial though not essential
- Strong attention to detail with excellent accuracy
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines
- High levels of IT literacy to be able to work within a paperless working environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A proactive, problem solving mindset, and a strong sense of ownership
