Eventus Legal are seeking a Senior Conveyancing Solicitor to join a well-established law firm in Coventry, West Midlands. This is a full-time, permanent job position working 35 hours per week, with a salary of £45,000 to £55,000 and hybrid working with one day from home each week. Role Responsibilities
The Senior Conveyancing Solicitor will lead the day-to-day delivery, performance and development of the residential conveyancing department while maintaining a personal caseload.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, supervising and supporting fee earners and conveyancing support staff within the department.
- Managing a personal residential conveyancing caseload from instruction through to completion, including providing technical input on more complex or high-value matters.
- Allocating and overseeing workloads to ensure matters progress efficiently and resources are used effectively.
- Maintaining high standards of client care, communication and file management across the department.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional obligations, including SRA requirements, CQS protocols, anti-money laundering requirements, GDPR and lender panel requirements.
- Undertaking file reviews and working with the firm's compliance team on audits, risk management and quality standards.
- Monitoring departmental performance, billing, work in progress and profitability, and contributing to budgeting and financial planning.
- Supporting the development and implementation of departmental business plans and helping to build relationships with referrers and professional contacts.
- Representing the department through networking and appropriate business development activity.
- Contributing to the development, training and appraisal of team members as the department grows.
Person Specification
This opportunity will suit an experienced residential property solicitor who is ready to take ownership of a department and combine fee earning with leadership and development responsibilities. You should also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Qualified Solicitor with strong residential conveyancing experience and the confidence to manage a varied caseload independently.
- Experience of supervising, mentoring or supporting other conveyancing fee earners and support staff.
- Strong technical knowledge of residential conveyancing and the ability to provide guidance on complex or high-value matters.
- A sound understanding of regulatory, compliance and risk requirements within residential conveyancing.
- Commercial awareness, including an understanding of billing, work in progress, profitability and effective file progression.
- Excellent client care, communication and organisational skills.
- A collaborative leadership style and a genuine interest in developing people and building a successful department for the long term.
- An interest in business development, networking and strengthening professional referrer relationships.
