Report Writer & Technical Administrator (IFA)

Ref: 2535| Posted: 20th Aug 2026

Eventus Recruitment are seeking a Report Writer & Technical Administrator (IFA) to join a well-established wealth management practice in Knutsford, Cheshire. This is a full-time, permanent job, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, paying up to £40,000, with hybrid and flexible working, a 5% employer pension contribution, a 4% annual bonus, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and support with your exams. The practice is home to five financial planners and this job sits at the technical centre of it, writing the reports and being the person the advisers come to. For a Report Writer & Technical Administrator (IFA) who wants client contact and a route into paraplanning rather than a desk at the back of the office, this one is worth a look.

Role Responsibilities

The job of Report Writer & Technical Administrator (IFA) is the technical engine of a small, well-run practice. Reports are written to a house framework rather than built from scratch every time, which keeps the writing sharp and the volume manageable. What makes this different from most report writing jobs is how much of it is done in company, working directly with the advisers, speaking to clients and third parties, and sitting in on client meetings.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as the technical point of contact for a team of five financial planners, from new business through to ongoing reviews
  • Writing clear, compliant, client-focused suitability reports and recommendations to regulatory standards
  • Constructing and maintaining financial planning solutions across investment, retirement, tax and estate planning
  • Building and updating cashflow models that sit behind the advice
  • Preparing client review documentation, including investment performance analysis and supporting discussion papers
  • Obtaining and analysing product information, quotes and illustrations to support comparisons and recommendations
  • Attending client meetings alongside the advisers where the job calls for it
  • Liaising with clients and third parties to keep cases moving
  • Assisting with tax calculations
  • Keeping current on internal templates, advice notes and regulatory change

Person Specification

This is a job for someone who can already write, so report writing behind you is the starting point rather than something to pick up here. The technical bar is real, but the practice will trade some technical ceiling for someone personable who handles clients and advisers well. Level 4 Diploma sits in the nice-to-have column rather than the essential one, which makes this a sensible move for a strong IFA administrator stepping up, or for a paraplanner at the earlier end of their career.

You should also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Report writing experience gained inside a financial planning or wealth management firm
  • A strong grasp of financial planning principles and the regulatory standards reports are held to
  • Proven experience producing suitability reports and cashflow models
  • Confidence holding a conversation with an adviser, a client and a provider
  • A highly organised approach across competing deadlines
  • Strong Excel and Word skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with discretion where it matters
  • A calm, positive manner when several cases land at once

Level 4 Diploma progress, pension transfer experience and familiarity with cashflow tools are a bonus rather than a requirement.

Benefits and Rewards

Up to £40,000 pitches this at the top of the technical administration band and well into paraplanner money, and the rest of the package holds up alongside it:

  • Salary of up to £40,000
  • Full-time and permanent, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
  • Hybrid and flexible working, with genuine value placed on collaborating in the office
  • 5% employer pension contribution
  • 4% annual bonus
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Study support if you want to take your exams

About the Company

The employer is a wealth management practice in Knutsford, Cheshire, built around a long-established client following that its founder brought with him when the practice took its current shape. Five financial planners advise business owners, senior corporate executives and private clients, with retirement, inheritance tax and intergenerational planning at the centre of the work. The owners are the real draw here, very relaxed, fair and transparent, alongside a practice manager who has extremely streamlined systems and processes, so the incoming Report Writer & Technical Administrator (IFA) lands in structure rather than chaos.
