Eventus Recruitment are seeking a Receptionist to be the first face and voice of a financial services firm in St Helens, Merseyside. This is a permanent, full-time Receptionist job paying up to £28,500, office based, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. The package includes a 5% employer pension, 26 days holiday plus bank holidays rising to 30 with service, a profit-share bonus and free parking. With the team in St Helens, Merseyside set to grow from 18 people to around 30, it suits a front of house professional who takes pride in client service and stays calm when the phones, the door and the diary all want them at once.
Role Responsibilities
The Receptionist runs front of house for the whole firm. Every client who walks through the door or rings the main line meets this person first, so the standard of the welcome sets the tone for the advice that follows. It is a busy desk, handling a high volume of calls, visitors and queries from clients, advisers and providers through the day, and the job needs someone who keeps every one of them moving without anyone feeling rushed.
Key responsibilities include:
- Running reception as the first point of contact for clients, visitors and colleagues
- Managing the main switchboard, handling a high volume of calls and routing them accurately
- Resolving client queries at the front desk, or passing them on with the detail the adviser needs
- Booking client meetings and meeting rooms through diary management
- Setting up meeting rooms, including video calls, refreshments and lunches
- Signing visitors in and out in line with health and safety procedures
- Keeping the internal phone list and extensions current as new starters join
- Booking travel and hotels, and managing office refreshments and catering
- Handling incoming and outgoing post, scanning and couriers
- Maintaining internal databases and preparing client literature
- Ordering stationery and office supplies
Person Specification
The successful Receptionist will bring front of house experience, ideally from a professional services or corporate setting where clients expect a polished welcome. Exceptional client and customer service matters more than anything else in this job, together with the composure to handle a large volume of calls, queries and situations without the standard slipping. Front of house receptionists and client liaison administrators will both suit it.
You should also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Front of house or reception experience, ideally in a professional or corporate environment
- Exceptional client and customer service skills, with a friendly and polished manner
- Composure when handling a large volume of calls, queries and situations at once
- Strong organisation, and the ability to run the day with minimal supervision
- Initiative in spotting what a visitor or colleague needs before they ask
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Accuracy and attention to detail on bookings, records and post
- A confident, clear telephone manner
- Professionalism and discretion with confidential client information

This Receptionist job pays up to £28,500 on a permanent, full-time basis, working from the office in St Helens, Merseyside, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Alongside the salary, the employer offers:
- Salary of up to £28,500 depending on experience
- Office based, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

About the Company
The employer is a financial services firm in St Helens, Merseyside, built over two decades almost entirely on client referrals rather than advertising. It is founder-led, and the founder still advises clients herself, so clients deal with people who know them rather than a call centre. Its own clients have rated it highly on an independent review site five years running, and the reception desk is a big part of how that reputation is kept. The team of 18 is set to grow to around 30 over the next three years, working from a new office, so front of house is seeing more visitors, more meetings and more new starters each year. It is a collaborative, down to earth place to work rather than a stuffy corporate, and one of the current advisers joined the firm as an administrator.
