Eventus Legal are seeking a Private Client Solicitor to join the wills, LPAs and probate team of a small, friendly law firm in Leyland, Lancashire. This is a full-time, permanent job offering a salary of £35,000 to £45,000 depending on experience, with no billing targets, flexible start and finish times and hybrid working, mostly in the office with one day a week from home. Newly qualified solicitors are welcome, and the right Private Client Solicitor could progress through the firm up to director level.
About the Role
This Private Client Solicitor job puts you in a department with outstanding quality of work. You would be working alongside an experienced head of private client and work with secretaries who know wills and probate well, so the support is there while the incoming Wills and Probate Solicitor builds a caseload of their own.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising clients on wills, taking their instructions and drafting wills that suit their family and finances
- Preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney and signing them off as the solicitor
- Managing the administration of estates from first instruction through to final distribution
- Assisting on trust matters for the firm's larger private client clients
- Meeting clients, many of them elderly, in the office and on home visits by arrangement
- Working closely with the head of private client and the department's secretaries to keep files moving
About You
You will be a qualified Solicitor with private client experience in wills, LPAs and estates, whether you are newly qualified or a few years into practice.
You should also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Qualification as a Solicitor, so that you can sign off Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Practical experience of drafting wills and administering estates
- A well-organised approach to managing your own files and diary
- Strong attention to detail when drafting
- A patient, warm manner with clients of all ages, including many elderly clients
- Comfort working as part of a small, close-knit team
Benefits and Rewards
This is a full-time, permanent Private Client Solicitor job in Leyland with an excellent benefits package including:

- No billing targets
- 29 days' holiday including bank holidays
- Christmas closure on top of your holiday allowance
- NEST pension scheme
- Free parking for staff
- Scope to progress through the firm over the longer term, up to director level for the right person
- A small, close-knit firm culture
About the Law Firm
This Leyland law firm is a small, friendly practice of 14 people, and it handles non-contentious work only, so the team spends its time on wills, estates, LPAs and property rather than litigation. Clients from the surrounding area, many of them retired, walk in to ask for a will appointment, so demand for private client advice is steady and local.
The Managing Director describes the firm as a family and runs it that way, with no billing targets, flexible start and finish times around school runs, and a Christmas closure that does not come out of anyone's holiday. Staff park for free and the firm pays for practising certificates and training. There is scope to progress through the firm, up to director level for the right person who proves themselves.
