Eventus Legal Recruitment is working with an established law firm to recruit an experienced Private Client Solicitor in their office in Haywards Heath, West Sussex. This is a full time, permanent position, offering hybrid and flexible working (3 days in the office and 2 from home once initial onboarding has occurred), a competitive salary, and clear progression opportunities into senior and management roles. This role would suit an ambitious solicitor, or legal executive, looking to develop their expertise in private client law within a reputable firm that is going through a successful growth phase. On offer is a salary in the range of £50-65k (depending on experience), a bonus scheme paying up to 20% of billings, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension, social events, and progression opportunities.

Role Responsibilities

The Private Client Solicitor, or Legal Executive, will be working out of the Haywards Heath, West Sussex office and you will play a key role in delivering high quality advice and service to clients. Responsibilities will include:

• Managing and growing a portfolio of private clients, providing expert legal advice on wills, probate, estate administration, trusts, tax and succession planning
• Drafting and advising on wills (including complex and taxable estates), lifetime planning and related documentation
• Advising on and preparing lasting powers of attorney and supporting clients with capacity and vulnerability considerations where required
• Overseeing the administration of estates from initial instruction through to distribution, including IHT reporting and probate applications
• Providing support on trust creation, registration, administration and ongoing advice, including liaising with accountants and independent financial advisors
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients, building strong and trusted relationships and delivering clear, tailored advice
• Engaging in business development and marketing activities, including attending networking events, building referrer relationships, and contributing to content and client-facing events
• Maintaining strong risk and compliance practices, including adherence to AML, KYC, and data protection regulations
• Managing billing and matter financial performance, ensuring time recording and billing accuracy and supporting overall profitability
• Collaborating with other departments as required, including assisting on private client related property, company or dispute issues where appropriate
• Supporting and mentoring junior team members where required and contributing to a positive team culture

Person Specification

The successful Private Client Solicitor or Legal Executive candidate will demonstrate both technical excellence and a strong client service ethos. You will have:

• Qualified Solicitor, or Legal Executive, with a minimum of 3+ years PQE in Private Client law
• Expertise in wills, probate and estate administration, with wider private client experience including trusts, tax, and succession planning
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver clear, tailored legal advice, to produce optimal outcomes for clients
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise a busy workload
• A proactive, commercial mindset, with an interest in developing new client relationships through multiple channels including attending networking events
• Up-to-date knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks, including AML, KYC, and GDPR
