Eventus Recruitment are seeking a highly experienced Legal Practice Assistant or Legal HR Assistant to join a leading national law firm in Manchester. This is a permanent job offering hybrid working and an exceptional opportunity to support both the onboarding and operational success of the firm. Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, you will ensure every new Partner has a seamless transition into the business and receives high-level operational support once established. This Manchester-based job combines legal operations with relationship management, offering hybrid flexibility and clear potential for progression as the team grows. The position can also be fulfilled on a part-time basis with a minimum of 4 full days.
About the Job
This is a vital, behind-the-scenes legal support job designed to drive the success of a growing Partner team. Your time will be evenly split between two distinct areas:
Partner Onboarding
You’ll support the smooth and efficient integration of new Partners into the firm, ensuring all systems, compliance, and communications are fully aligned before and after they join. You will:
- Manage onboarding workflows from initiation through to induction
- Coordinate across departments to prepare systems and support structures
- Track progress, resolve setup issues, and keep new joiners informed
- Deliver a seamless and professional experience that reflects the firm’s values
Ongoing Partner Support
Once Partners are onboarded, you’ll act as a key point of contact, maintaining oversight of their day-to-day operational needs and acting as a conduit to the executive team. You will:
- Liaise regularly with Partners to address queries and support requests
- Flag potential issues to the Partner Support Manager or Operations Director
- Support executive reporting, process improvements, and internal communication
- Be a consistent, trusted presence across the Partner team
This is not a fee-earning position and is entirely internal, with your “clients” being the firm’s Partners and leadership team.
About You
You’ll be a confident and highly organised legal professional who thrives in a people-focused legal environment.
You could be a highly experienced Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant, Career Paralegal, Practice Assistant or HR Assistant with a strong understanding of how commercial legal teams operate and the type of work they do under each discipline.
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Prior experience supporting senior legal professionals in a commercial law firm
- A sound grasp of legal processes and the pressures faced by Partners
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple tasks with precision and accountability
- Excellent relationship-building skills with a diplomatic and calm approach
- Confidence liaising with C-suite executives and high-level stakeholders
- A proactive, ownership-driven mindset and natural problem-solving instincts
This job offers the ideal stepping stone for someone looking to transition into a more strategic operational or management-focused legal support career.
The hiring firm has a clear scope of who they are looking for to succeed in this job — you must have experience working within a law firm to be considered.
Benefits and Rewards
You’ll be joining a forward-thinking law firm that not only rewards excellence but also genuinely supports its people. Alongside an excellent salary of £35K–£45K (dependent on experience), hybrid working and clear progression opportunities, you will also enjoy:
- Up to 25 days’ holiday, with the option to buy and sell up to 3 days per year
- Duvet days and an additional Christmas shopping day of leave
- Generous sick pay, plus enhanced family leave policies (maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental leave)
- Life assurance (4x salary)
