Eventus Recruitment are seeking a Paraplanner to join an independent, whole of market financial planning firm on the Wirral, Merseyside. This is a permanent, full-time Paraplanner job paying up to circa £45,000, working Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with hybrid working available for the right person. Role Responsibilities

The incoming Paraplanner will provide the technical backbone for the adviser team, reporting to the Directors. Working alongside two established paraplanners, the job carries ownership of cases from first research through to a finished suitability report, for clients typically holding around £500,000 of investable assets. The advice spans pensions and retirement, investments, inheritance tax and business planning, so the technical range is wide.

Key responsibilities include:

• Owning cases from initial research through to a completed recommendation
• Producing client suitability reports in line with internal standards and compliance procedures
• Providing research, analysis and technical support to the advisers
• Analysing clients' circumstances, objectives and attitude to risk
• Querying and challenging advisers' proposed recommendations where necessary
• Carrying out cashflow modelling analysis to underpin retirement and estate planning
• Researching products, providers and investment solutions across the whole of market
• Preparing comparisons and illustrations ready for adviser client meetings
• Identifying missing client information needed to form a recommendation
• Completing remedial actions following quality checking
• Maintaining accurate client and plan records on the back office system

Person Specification

The successful Paraplanner will have prior experience in a paraplanning job within a financial advice firm. Excellent written English matters a great deal here, because the reports are the product and they go to clients as well as advisers. The employer will consider a Paraplanner working towards the Level 4 Diploma as readily as one who already holds it.

You should also be able to demonstrate the following:

• Prior paraplanning experience within a financial advice firm
• Working towards or holding the Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning
• Strong technical knowledge across pensions, investments and inheritance tax
• Confident use of research tools and back office systems
• Ability to prioritise a caseload and restructure the day as work lands
• Clear written English, and the judgement to pitch a report at its reader
• Professionalism and total discretion when dealing with clients and third parties

Its clients are largely high net worth individuals, families and business owners typically holding around £500,000 of investable assets, so the casework runs well beyond the routine. The firm was founded by an experienced practice owner who built and sold a previous advice business before starting this one independently, and the business is run with that in mind. The adviser team is supported by two paraplanners, a compliance manager and a client services function, so the incoming Paraplanner joins an established support structure rather than carrying the technical work alone. There is a stated route for people who want to go further, coaching them through the technical work and funding the qualifications, whether that means going deeper into paraplanning or towards advice in time.
