Job Responsibilities
The successful Newly Qualified Criminal Defence Solicitor in Warrington will manage a varied caseload of criminal law matters whilst developing their advocacy and client representation skills within a supportive team environment. The day to day duties within this Newly Qualified Criminal Defence Solicitor job include:
• Managing a caseload of criminal matters for both legal aid and privately funded clients
• Attending court hearings and representing clients at police stations
• Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates' Court with training and support provided
• Managing Crown Court matters
• Preparing clear and accurate legal documentation and providing legal advice
• Liaising with clients, courts, counsel and other third parties
• Progressing matters efficiently and maintaining high standards of client care
• Supporting senior lawyers and contributing to wider team objectives
• Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards

The successful Newly Qualified Criminal Defence Solicitor will possess the following experience, skills and attributes:
• Newly Qualified Solicitor with experience of Criminal Law
• Strong understanding of Criminal Law and court procedures
• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• A proactive and team focused approach to work
It would be advantageous, although not essential, to hold Police Station Accreditation. Training and support will be provided. Candidates should also be willing to work towards Duty Solicitor status.
