Eventus Legal are seeking a Senior Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant with experience in privately funded Family Law to join a well-regarded and expanding law firm based in Redcar, Cleveland. This is a permanent job opportunity with the option to work 4 or 5 days per week. The successful applicant will benefit from a competitive salary between £23,000 – £26,500 depending on experience, private healthcare, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, and additional time off for Christmas closure. Role Responsibilities
The incoming Family Legal Secretary or Family Legal Assistant will provide key administrative and secretarial support to Family Solicitors, specifically in privately funded matters. Day-to-day duties will include:
- Preparing legal documents, court bundles, statements, and correspondence in family law matters
- Typing from digital dictation and managing busy diaries for family law fee-earners
- Handling confidential client enquiries with discretion and professionalism
- Opening, maintaining, and closing family law files using the firm’s case management system
- Supporting the preparation and organisation of court hearings and client appointments
- Conducting client ID verification and administrative onboarding tasks
- Managing telephone calls, post, email inboxes, photocopying, filing and general office administration
- Liaising with clients, barristers, courts, and other third parties in a timely and efficient manner
Person Specification
Applications are invited from experienced Legal Secretaries or Legal Assistants with a background in Family Law. You must be able to demonstrate:
- Previous experience in a family law department, ideally dealing with privately funded cases
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail
- The ability to handle highly sensitive and emotional matters with empathy and discretion
- A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting fee-earners in a busy environment
- Confident IT skills including MS Office and case management systems
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a close-knit team
