Eventus Legal are seeking a Legal Secretary to join a well-established law firm in Darlington, County Durham. This is a permanent job supporting a solicitor whose caseload covers general litigation and clinical negligence. The position offers a salary of £25,000 to £27,000 depending on experience, full-time hours of 8.45am to 5.00pm with a 45-minute lunch break, 36 days' annual leave inclusive of bank holidays, additional paid closure over Christmas and an Aviva workplace pension. Full-time or part-time hours will be considered for the right applicant.

Role Responsibilities

The Legal Secretary will provide day-to-day secretarial and administrative support to a solicitor handling general litigation and clinical negligence matters. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing secretarial and administrative support across a varied litigation and clinical negligence caseload
  • Assisting with the preparation, organisation and progression of files and legal documentation as directed
  • Handling correspondence and routine administrative tasks connected with active matters
  • Supporting effective communication with clients and relevant third parties
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure matters are progressed efficiently and clients receive a high standard of service

Person Specification

Applications are welcomed from experienced Legal Secretaries who are comfortable supporting contentious legal work. You should also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Previous legal secretarial experience
  • Litigation or personal injury experience is highly desirable
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail
  • A professional and personable approach to client service
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work accurately within a busy legal environment
  • A collaborative and reliable approach to supporting fee earners and colleagues
