Eventus Recruitment Cheshire are seeking a Legal Cashier to join a busy Legal Finance Team based in the outskirts of Liverpool. This is a full-time, office-based role working 36.25 hours per week, Monday - Friday with onsite parking. The firm offers a friendly working environment and you will join an experienced cashiering team of 3 in a wider finance team of 5. You will report to the Finance Manager who plays an active and collaborative role within the team.

Role Responsibilities

The successful Legal Cashier will have a range of responsibilities including:

  • Checking AML compliance within the team
  • Assisting staff with accounts queries
  • Processing daily all financial payments, receipts, and transfers
  • Performing day end balancing procedures
  • Processing credit card payments
  • Making bank and cheque payments
  • Conducting reconciliation of petty cash payments
  • Petty cash balancing - to incorporate identifying and rectifying errors
  • Depositing interest calculations
  • Purchase Ledger - coding, inputting and cheque production
  • Processing employees' expenses claims
  • Processing invoices and check completion statements
  • Liaising with file handling departments regarding accounting transactions
  • Assisting the processing of client and office account transactions, with reference to billing
  • Reconciliation of disbursement supplier statements as required
  • Liaising with clients and debtors

 Person Specification

The incoming Legal Cashier will have experience of working in a finance department as a Legal Cashier or a Finance Assistant. In addition, you will have the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • Knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Attention to detail and be able to work effectively, prioritising tasks by importance of completion in order to meet deadlines
  • Excellent knowledge of IT systems, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team, providing cover where necessary
  • Knowledge of accounting processes
  • Previous experience of a case management system, preferably Partner for Windows
  • Experience of identifying areas for improvement and implementing change
