Eventus Legal are working with a highly regarded law firm in Stoke-on-Trent who are looking to appoint a Head of Department for the Commercial Property team. This full-time, permanent position offers an excellent package including a salary of up to £80,000 (depending on experience), remote working on a hybrid basis, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and more!
About the Role
As the Head of Commercial Property, you’ll take the lead in overseeing and developing a successful department, while continuing to handle a varied caseload.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a balance of people leadership, operational planning, and hands-on legal work. You’ll work closely with the wider management team to help drive performance, deliver an exceptional client experience and identify future growth opportunities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a mixed caseload of commercial property matters (including freehold and leasehold transactions)
- Leading, mentoring and supporting team members to ensure consistent performance and development
- Shaping departmental strategy and playing an active role in marketing and client engagement
- Monitoring resource levels, forecasting workload and managing budgets using reporting tools
- Promoting a collaborative, positive team culture and clear communication across departments
- Offering guidance on more complex property matters, including residential crossover work
- Encouraging a culture of learning, continuous improvement, and openness to change
About You
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Commercial Property Lawyer who thrives in a leadership role and values long-term team development.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Qualification as a Solicitor (or equivalent), with a minimum of 7 years’ PQE in commercial property
- Strong technical ability and confidence managing a wide range of transactions
- A track record of mentoring or managing team members
- Commercial awareness and an ability to manage financial targets and departmental budgets
- Clear, confident communication skills and a collaborative working style
- Ability to remain calm and solution-focused when managing challenges
- Competence using legal software, case management systems, and Microsoft Office
