Eventus Recruitment are seeking a Financial Adviser to join a growing whole of market financial planning firm in Warrington, Cheshire. This is a full-time, permanent job paying £50,000 to £55,000, with a bonus of up to 15% of salary, a 10% employer pension contribution and 28 days holiday plus bank holidays. The job is home based, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with a visit to the Warrington, Cheshire office around once a fortnight and no evening appointments at all. For an experienced adviser who wants to give good advice without carrying new business targets, this one is rare.
Role Responsibilities
The job of Financial Adviser here works differently to most adviser jobs. There is no prospecting, no new business targets and no income goals. Your time goes on the advice itself, and the technical bar is high, because the cases that reach you are the complicated ones.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising clients on withdrawals from onshore and offshore investment bonds, including the associated tax calculations
- Advising on access to pension benefits and drawdown
- Carrying out fund reviews and recommending changes where they are needed
- Calculating capital gains tax positions on withdrawals from investment accounts
- Writing your own suitability reports, supported by AI assisted report writing software
- Working with the in house analyst and the compliance team on more complex cases
- Delivering advice by telephone, video and email, with no face to face client meetings
- Handing completed advice to the administration team, who process it through to conclusion
Person Specification
This Financial Adviser job suits an experienced adviser, financial planner or wealth adviser who has had enough of aggressive sales cultures and evening appointments, and who takes real satisfaction in getting a piece of advice right first time. Bancassurance and network backgrounds work well here, as do advisers who came up through administration and paraplanning before qualifying. The bonus is paid on the quality of the advice rather than the volume of it, so an adviser chasing commission would not enjoy this job.
You should also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Level 4 Diploma in financial planning and competent adviser status
- Strong technical knowledge of onshore and offshore investment bonds
- Experience of pension decumulation, fund reviews and capital gains tax calculations
- Motivation that comes from advice quality rather than new business targets
- Willingness to adopt new technology and better ways of working
- Clear telephone and video communication, as all client contact is remote
Benefits and Rewards
As well as a salary of £50,000 to £55,000 depending on experience, this Financial Adviser job carries one of the strongest packages I see in the market:
- Bonus of up to 15% of salary
- 10% employer pension contribution
- 28 days holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy 3 more days
- Private medical insurance option
- Death in service cover at 4 times salary
- Home based working, with a visit to the Warrington, Cheshire office around once a fortnight
- Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with no evening appointments and no travel to client homes
- Full-time and permanent
About the Company
The employer is a whole of market independent financial planning firm of around sixteen people, based in Warrington, Cheshire, and it has grown strongly over the past two years. The work here is technical rather than sales driven, which is why it is varied and free of any obligation to sell. The support is real rather than promised, with a dedicated group analyst on funds, an in house compliance team for complex cases, an administration team that processes advice once it is given and two other authorised advisers. The managing director reviews workload deliberately so that nobody is working under pressure, on the view that pressure is where mistakes come from. Development is taken seriously too, with advanced qualifications funded and rewarded, and a track record of coaching people through rather than giving up on them. I have placed three people into this business and every one of them is still there and doing well.
