Eventus Legal are seeking a Family Lawyer to join a specialist family law practice in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. This is a full-time, permanent job offering a competitive salary up to £60,000 dependent on experience. Role Responsibilities
The Family Lawyer will manage or assist with a varied private family law caseload at a level appropriate to their experience, with the opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the department.
- Manage or assist with matters involving divorce and separation, financial remedy proceedings and negotiations, private children matters, cohabitation disputes, TOLATA claims, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, separation agreements and protective injunctions.
- Take instructions from new and existing clients and provide clear, practical and commercially proportionate advice.
- Draft correspondence, statements, applications and agreements accurately and effectively.
- Conduct negotiations with solicitors and litigants in person.
- Attend client meetings, conferences and court hearings where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to the continued growth of the Doncaster family law team.
- Supervise and support junior colleagues where sufficiently experienced.
- Attend networking events, develop professional relationships and support marketing and business development initiatives.
Person Specification
Applications are welcomed from family law professionals at different stages of their careers, with responsibilities and supervision tailored to qualifications and experience.
- Applications will be considered from solicitors at any level of PQE, CILEX Lawyers and Chartered Legal Executives, newly qualified solicitors and legal executives, trainee solicitors and experienced family law paralegals with sufficient practical experience.
- More experienced applicants should be able to take instructions and manage their own cases with an appropriate level of supervision.
- Junior applicants should have some family law experience together with the ability and ambition to develop their technical knowledge and case management skills under supervision.
- Excellent client care and communication skills, with clear and accurate drafting ability.
- Sound judgement, attention to detail and a professional, organised and collaborative approach.
- The ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and use case management systems and Microsoft Office confidently.
- An understanding of effective time recording and the commercial requirements of private family law work.
- An interest in networking and business development and a willingness to contribute to the firm's long-term growth.
- Experience of private children and financial remedy matters is desirable, while TOLATA experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
