Eventus Legal are seeking an ambitious Family Paralegal to join a specialist and growing family law practice based in Derby, Derbyshire. This is a full-time, permanent job position offering a salary of £25,000, hybrid working with remote days available following successful completion of probation, 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, bonus scheme and excellent long term career development. You will support experienced solicitors with busy family law caseloads while receiving ongoing training, one to one mentoring and study support towards qualification through the SQE route. 

 

Job Responsibilities 

As a Family Paralegal in Derby, Derbyshire, you will work closely with solicitors and provide practical support across a full caseload of family law matters. Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Supporting solicitors with the day to day progression and management of busy family law caseloads 

  • Preparing and organising case documentation and correspondence under appropriate supervision 

  • Assisting with the efficient administration and progression of client matters 

  • Communicating professionally with clients, colleagues and relevant third parties 

  • Prioritising competing tasks to ensure work is completed accurately and within required timescales 

  • Providing dependable support to the wider family law team and contributing to a consistently high standard of client care 

 

Person Specification 

Applications are welcomed from motivated family paralegals in Derby, Derbyshire and the surrounding areas, who want to build a long-term career within family law and develop with structured training and support. You should also be able to demonstrate the following: 

  • Minimum of 12 months experience gained within family law, assisting with a busy caseload of public and private divorce and separation, matrimonial finance, child arrangements, mediation, domestic abuse and private children matters 

  • Strong organisation and administration skills and a high degree of attention to detail 

  • The ability to manage priorities effectively within a busy legal environment 

  • Confident liaising with clients and ability to build rapport and strong relationships 

  • Excellent communication skills and a professional, sensitive approach to client care 

  • A collaborative attitude and the confidence to build positive working relationships across the team 

  • Self motivation, a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn 

  • Completion of SQE1 would be advantageous, although not essential, together with an interest in progressing towards qualification over the longer term
