Eventus Legal are seeking an Employment Solicitor to join a successful and growing law firm in Leeds city centre, West Yorkshire. This full-time, permanent job offers hybrid working, a salary of up to £75,000, a profit-sharing scheme, private health insurance, enhanced family-friendly benefits and genuine opportunities for long-term career development. The successful Employment Solicitor will join a supportive and collaborative Employment team, advising clients on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters. This job would suit a Newly Qualified Solicitor through to a Solicitor with up to 5 years' PQE who is looking to build their expertise within a firm that values professional development, client care and teamwork.

Job Responsibilities:

The incoming Employment Solicitor, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire will be responsible for providing support in the following areas:

  • Managing a varied caseload consisting predominantly of claimant Employment Tribunal matters, ensuring files are progressed efficiently and effectively while maintaining a high standard of client care throughout the process
  • Handling cases at all stages of the matter lifecycle, from taking initial client instructions and conducting case assessments through to progression, resolution, completion, and final file archiving, ensuring full compliance with internal office procedures, regulatory requirements, and accounts processes
  • Meeting with clients to take detailed instructions, identify key issues, assess legal merits, and provide clear, practical, and commercially focused advice tailored to each client’s circumstances
  • Liaising with and instructing Counsel, barristers, medical professionals, and other relevant experts where appropriate, ensuring all necessary evidence and specialist advice is obtained to support the progression of cases
  • Representing clients at Employment Tribunal proceedings, including Preliminary Hearings, advocating on their behalf and effectively presenting legal arguments and case positions
  • Drafting and preparing a wide range of Employment Tribunal documentation and pleadings, including ET1 and ET3 forms, witness statements, schedules of loss, applications, and supporting legal documentation
  • Advising clients on employment contracts, service agreements, and associated employment documentation, ensuring clients fully understand their rights, obligations, and any potential legal implications
  • Providing comprehensive advice on settlement agreements, including explaining the terms, legal effects, and implications to clients, ensuring they are able to make informed decisions
  • Maintaining and continually developing legal knowledge and technical expertise through ongoing professional development, monitoring changes in employment legislation, case law, and best practice to ensure accurate and up-to-date advice is provided at all times

Person Specification:
The successful Employment Solicitor will possess strong administrative skills, excellent communication skills, and a hardworking work ethic.

  • NQ to 5 years PQE within Employment Law
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present and argue cases in a clear and persuasive manner
  • Ability to interpret technical legal information and translate complex issues into practical, concise, and client-friendly solutions
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring work is completed accurately and in line with team requirements and quality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining accuracy and professionalism at all times
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing deadlines
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and use initiative when handling matters and resolving issues
  • Team-oriented approach with the ability to contribute positively within a collaborative and supportive working environment
  • Competent IT and keyboard skills, with the ability to work efficiently across case management systems and standard office software
