Eventus Legal are seeking a Criminal Solicitor to join a highly regarded law firm based in Preston. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a competitive salary, along with a range of employee benefits including hybrid and flexible working options, additional annual leave and death in service benefits.

 

Role Responsibilities

As a Criminal Solicitor, you will handle a varied caseload of criminal defence matters, representing clients in police stations and magistrates court. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of criminal defence matters, including serious and complex cases
  • Attending police stations to advise and represent clients
  • Preparing cases for trial, including drafting legal documents and liaising with Counsel
  • Representing clients in Magistrates’ Court and instructing Counsel for Crown Court matters
  • Conducting legal research and staying up to date with changes in criminal law
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships through excellent communication and client care
  • Carrying out marketing and networking activities to further develop the criminal defence department

 

About You

You will be an experienced Criminal Solicitor, preferably duty-qualified with a strong background in criminal defence. You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of handling a varied criminal caseload independently
  • Strong advocacy skills and experience representing clients in court
  • A commitment to high standards of client care and professional ethics
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive and organised approach to managing cases
