Eventus Legal are seeking a Criminal Defence Solicitor to join a successful law firm based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. This is a permanent, full-time role. Benefits include continuous training, development (CIPD), and good starting holiday allowance.
Role Responsibilities
The successful Criminal Defence Solicitor will provide support to a highly regarded specialist Criminal Defence team act as an advocate in the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts, representing clients in a wide variety of cases ranging from bail applications, serious fraud, white collar crime, theft, drugs, and murder cases, to criminal appeals.
The role will include but not limited to:
- Attend Police Stations and Magistrates’ Courts, as part of the Court and Police Station Duty Rota Scheme.
- Preparing cases for both Magistrates and Crown Court.
- Advise clients and take accurate instructions.
- Maintain standards and compliance set by Legal Aid Agency.
Person Specification
As the incoming Criminal Defence Solicitor, you will have good technical and communication skills and demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively not only within the Criminal Department but across the firm.
Importantly, you will also be able to display:
- Team-working skills, together with the ability to use individual initiative relating to their own responsibilities.
- Strong advocacy skills.
- Excellent communication skills, combined with organisational and administrative ability.
- Well-developed IT capability.
- A professional attitude towards work and career matters, while supporting the development of the Practice.
- A clean, current UK driver’s licence and your own vehicle.
- The successful Criminal Solicitor will have a proven track record in a wide range of criminal matters, and you will be confident attending police stations and representing clients at Court.
