Eventus Legal is seeking an experienced Conveyancing Solicitor to join an established and growing law firm based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. This is a key role offering the opportunity to help develop and grow the Barnsley presence, including supervising a paralegal and building on existing relationships with local estate agents. The successful candidate will handle a varied conveyancing caseload and work closely with a remotely based national conveyancing team, providing and receiving support as required. Role Responsibilities:
The incoming Conveyancing Solicitor will be responsible for managing a varied caseload of residential conveyancing matters from initial instruction through to completion, ensuring a high standard of client care and technical accuracy throughout the transaction lifecycle. The role will involve handling a broad range of conveyancing work, dependent on experience, including but not limited to:
- Freehold and leasehold residential conveyancing transactions
- Manage an average caseload of approximately 60–100 files, depending on experience and complexity
- New build purchases and plot sales
- Leasehold matters, including complex title and management company issues
- Shared ownership transactions
- Right to Buy matters
- You will supervise and provide day to day guidance and support to a paralegal, assisting with workload management, development, and quality control, as the team continues to grow
- Working as part of a geographically dispersed conveyancing team, you will collaborate effectively with colleagues and shared remote administrative support to ensure files are progressed efficiently and service levels are maintained
- You will actively contribute to the ongoing development of the Barnsley office, helping to raise the firm’s local profile and strengthen its market presence. This will include building, maintaining, and developing strong working relationships with local estate agents, mortgage brokers, and other key referrers
- Meet agreed billing, productivity, and performance targets
- Ensure all matters are handled in accordance with firm policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate file management and compliance records at all times
Person Specification:
The successful Conveyancing Solicitor for the position based in our clients Barnsley, South Yorkshire office will have the following skills and attributes:
- Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 2 years’ post qualification experience, specifically in residential conveyancing
- Proven ability to handle complex conveyancing matters independently
- Experience in mentoring or supervising junior team members
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and achieve billing targets
- Comfortable and effective in working with remote teams and digital case management systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and estate agents
- Existing network of estate agent contacts, particularly in Barnsley or surrounding areas, which can support client acquisition and business growth (desirable)
