Eventus Legal are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary or Conveyancing Assistant to join a highly successful, award-winning Residential Conveyancing team in Spennymoor, County Durham. This is a permanent job available on either a full-time or part-time (4 days) basis. This is a newly created job due to business growth, offering a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and highly regarded conveyancing department. The successful Legal Secretary or Conveyancing Assistant will provide dedicated administrative and secretarial support to a busy Conveyancer, playing an integral role in helping progress a varied caseload of residential property transactions.
Role Responsibilities
The incoming Legal Secretary or Conveyancing Assistant will provide comprehensive support to a fee earner working on a caseload of residential conveyancing matters. You will contribute significantly to the smooth running of the department and play a vital role in client care.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Typing audio dictation of legal documents, letters and file notes accurately and efficiently
- Preparing legal forms, documents and correspondence
- Managing incoming and outgoing post, phone calls, emails and client queries
- Updating the case management system and maintaining accurate file records
- Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders and third parties to progress transactions
- Opening and closing files in accordance with compliance procedures
- Supporting the Conveyancer in progressing matters such as sales, purchases, re-mortgages and transfers of equity
Person Specification
Applications are welcomed from experienced Legal Secretaries, Conveyancing Assistants, or Legal Administrators with prior experience in a busy residential property team. This is not an entry-level job, and applicants must have:
- Proven experience working within a conveyancing department in a legal secretary or support capacity
- Strong audio typing skills and the ability to work with digital dictation
- Excellent organisation, time management and communication skills
- The ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently with great attention to detail
- A client-focused and professional approach to work
Familiarity with conveyancing case management systems would be an advantage
