Conveyancing Assistant

Eventus Legal are seeking a Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant or Conveyancing Assistant with experience to join a successful team based in Skipton. The successful candidate will be working with a highly regarded team, with excellent benefits including free parking, medicash and flexibility over hours . The role is a permanent position available on a full time or reduced hours basis and has arisen due to an upcoming retirement.

Role responsibilities

The incoming Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant or Conveyancing Assistant will be working alongside the highly-regarded residential conveyancing team. Duties will include:

  • Typing letters, correspondence and other documents primarily using digital dictation (BigHand) but also some copy typing
  • Promptly handling new enquiries from prospective clients requiring fee estimates for moving home both on the telephone and face to face.
  • Using and updating the case management system including the opening of new files and preparation of client care packs
  • Completion of Land Registry forms and use of Land Registry online portal & dealing with registrations of Title with the Land Registry.
  • Handling client enquiries when necessary, both in person and on the telephone and checking client ID
  • Making appointments for lawyers with clients and other parties using Outlook
  • Conducting HMLR, Safemove, AML and lawyer checker searches when required.
  • Photocopying, filing and archiving of files.
  • Carrying out administrative tasks as required by fee earners and/or the Practice Manager (all secretaries are occasionally required to assist with covering reception, taking post/DX and carrying out banking)

Person specification

Applications are sought from those with experience in a similar role as either a Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant or Conveyancing Assistant in Residential conveyancing.  

You will have a high level of interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skills and be able to maintain a friendly and sensitive manner, be articulate, cooperative and self-confident when dealing with client enquiries.
