About the Job
This is a senior-level position within a dedicated Construction team providing both contentious and non-contentious services across the construction sector. You will manage your own caseload while contributing to business development and team mentoring.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a varied caseload of construction matters with minimal supervision
- Drafting and negotiating construction and engineering contracts and ancillary documents
- Advising on JCT, NEC, IChemE and FIDIC contracts
- Handling contentious issues such as delay, disruption, breach of contract and professional negligence
- Representing clients in adjudication, arbitration and proceedings in the Technology and Construction Court
- Contributing to the growth of the department across Kendal and beyond
- Supporting junior colleagues and supervising support staff
- Liaising with other departments to deliver a full-service approach to clients
- Helping to develop precedents and knowledge bank resources
About You
This opportunity is ideal for a qualified Construction Solicitor with solid experience in construction law who is ready to hit the ground running and support junior team members.
You should also be able to demonstrate the following:
- A minimum of 4 years’ PQE in a construction-focused legal environment
- Experience handling both contentious and non-contentious construction matters (however applicants with strong experience in either will be considered)
- Strong attention to detail and technical drafting skills
- Excellent client relationship management and communication skills
- Confident working independently and in supervising junior team members
- Commercial awareness and enthusiasm for business development
- Comfortable working flexibly across office and remote environments
