 Role Responsibilities

In your new Childcare Solicitor job in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire you will work closely with the Head of Family Law and manage your own caseload of Childcare matters with minimal supervision

You will have exposure to high quality work and have the opportunity to meet clients face to face, prioritising high client care at all times.

Specific duties will include:

• Manage a caseload of public and private childcare law matters, providing expert legal advice and representation to clients throughout proceedings
• Represent parents, children, guardians, and local authorities in proceedings involving care orders, supervision orders, emergency protection orders, and adoption matters
• Prepare legal documents, court applications, witness statements, and evidence bundles, ensuring compliance with court rules and procedural deadlines
• Conduct your own advocacy at hearings, case management conference and trials
• Work closely with social workers, guardians, experts and other professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes while safeguarding the welfare of children
• Maintain accurate case records, manages client relationships with empathy and professionalism, and ensures compliance with regulatory, legal, and confidentiality requirements
• Keep up to date with developments in childcare law and family justice procedures
   

Person Specification

Applications are sought from experienced Childcare Solicitors in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. You will be able to demonstrate previous Childcare experience and have strong advocacy skills

• Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (CILEX) with experience in childcare
• Demonstrable experience managing a caseload of public and private childcare matters with minimal supervision
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, court procedures and current developments in childcare law
• Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and client care skills
• Ability to build trusted relationships with vulnerable clients
• Highly organised with excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise a busy and varied workload
• Strong drafting and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to prepare high-quality legal documentation.
• Confident communicator with the ability to liaise effectively with courts, counsel, local authorities, social workers, and other professionals.
• Empathetic, professional and resilient, with a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and families
• Self motivated team player who can also work independently and contribute positively to the wider department
• Proficient in the use of case management systems and Microsoft Office applications
• Children Panel Accreditation (desirable but not essential) or a willingness to work towards accreditation
