Eventus Legal are seeking an experienced Child Panel Member (Child Law Solicitor) to join one of the UK’s leading commercial law firms, based within their modern commercial offices in central Northampton, Northamptonshire. This is a permanent, full time job opportunity working out of modern commercial offices within the city centre and is easily commutable from the wider Northamptonshire area with great transport links. Role Responsibilities
As a Child Panel Member in Northampton, Northamptonshire your new job will see you working closely with the wider Family Law team taking responsibility for a varied caseload. You will be fully supported by an experienced and dynamic team and have a dedicated legal assistant to enable you to focus on providing high quality service to each and every client.
This opportunity would suit an ambitious and confident Childcare/Children Law Solicitor who is Child Panel Accredited
Specific duties will include:
- Managing a varied autonomous caseload including Care and Interim Orders, Emergency Protection Orders, Special Guardianship Orders, Adoption and Private Children Law
- Represent children and children's guardians in public law care proceedings.
- Provide expert legal advice and safeguard the best interests of child clients.
- Manage a caseload of children law matters from instruction to conclusion.
- Prepare legal documents, witness statements, and court applications.
- Conduct advocacy at family court hearings or instruct counsel where appropriate.
- Review and analyse evidence, including social work, medical, and expert reports.
- Liaise with clients, CAFCASS, local authorities, social workers, and other professionals.
- Ensure compliance with legal aid, court procedures, and professional standards.
- Maintain accurate case records and meet all court deadlines.
- Supervise junior colleagues as and when required
Person Specification
Applications are sought from Child Panel Members in Northampton, Northamptonshire who have a strong background handling a diverse range of Children matters both public and private.
- Qualified Solicitor 3-5 years PQE
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a current practising certificate.
- Accredited member of the Law Society Children Law Accreditation Scheme (Children Panel).
- Strong knowledge of public children law, family law, and court procedures.
- Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and legal drafting skills.
- Ability to manage a busy caseload and work to strict deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with clients and professionals.
- Compassionate, professional, and committed to achieving the best outcomes for children.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
