Eventus Legal are seeking a Child Care Solicitor to join a successful law firm based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. This is a permanent, full-time role. Benefits include continuous training, development (CIPD), and good starting holiday allowance.

Key Job Responsibilities

This Child Care Solicitor position is suited to a confident legal professional with first class interpersonal and motivational skills and the passion to help drive the firm forwards.

The role includes:

  • Being responsible for a team of Solicitors, Paralegals and Legal Assistants.
  • Successfully managing your own caseload.
  • Ensuring your team’s professional knowledge and level of competence are being measured and developed continuously identifying any training needs.
  • Undertaking own advocacy and representation of the clients in court.
  • Fully instructing counsel, agents and experts when required.
  • Ensuring all court orders are read and actioned accordingly.
  • Providing clear and comprehensive advice to clients and progress their cases to conclusion.

Additional day-to-day duties would include:

  • Delegating work as appropriate to more junior members of staff and supervising that work in accordance with the Legal Aid Standards and offering guidance where appropriate.
  • Ensuring the quality of work produced by the Family team is of the highest standard.
  • Processing stakeholder enquiries promptly to ensure that all business opportunities are dealt with professionally and to the satisfaction of the client or enquirer.

Person Specification 

As a Child Care Solicitor, you will be either Children Panel member or working to/willing to work towards accreditation. You will have the opportunity to grow and develop you’re a pre-existing team of fee earners and support staff along with managing your own caseload. The incoming Supervising Family Solicitor will assume responsibility for the team and accurate recording of Legal Aid Billing and will have overall sign off on the work produced.  Importantly, the successful legal professional will need the following:

  • Qualified and experienced Lawyer (Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive).
  • Member of the Law Society’s Children Law (Desirable)
  • Management / leadership experience (Essential).
  • Proven experience of managing your own caseloads within Public Children Matters.
  • Self-motivated, clear thinking and able to carry out casework accurately.
  • Ambitious lawyer committed to your own growth and development.
