This Family Solicitor job is ideal for a senior Family Solicitor, Family Legal Executive or Chartered Legal Executive with a minimum of 5 years’ PQE (or very close to) who is confident undertaking advocacy and keen to play a key part in a thriving privately funded Family Law department.
Role Responsibilities
As a Family Solicitor or Family Legal Executive in Skipton, North Yorkshire, you will handle a fully privately funded caseload, working closely within a supportive team of six family law professionals. Advocacy is an essential part of this Family Solicitor job, and you will either hold stand-alone litigation rights or be willing and eligible to apply for them.
Your responsibilities as a Family Solicitor will include:
- Managing a varied caseload of privately funded family matters including divorce, financial remedy proceedings, private children matters and related applications.
- Advising on complex financial settlements, including cases involving business interests, property portfolios, pensions and agricultural assets where applicable.
- Representing clients in court hearings and undertaking advocacy as part of your day-to-day work.
- Drafting applications, witness statements, consent orders and financial disclosure documentation.
- Supporting clients with empathy and professionalism during sensitive and often challenging circumstances.
- Contributing to business development initiatives and strengthening the firm’s presence within the North Yorkshire market.
- Working collaboratively within a friendly team environment, mentoring junior colleagues where appropriate.
Although the caseload is entirely privately funded, applications are welcomed from Family Solicitors with public law experience who are looking to transition into private family work. However, you must be confident and willing to develop expertise in financial remedy work alongside children matters.
