Civil Liberties Lawyer

Eventus Legal is seeking an experienced Civil Liberties Lawyer to join a well-established, award-winning law firm in Liverpool. This is a permanent, full time job role with flexible and hybrid working. Role Responsibilities

The incoming Civil Liberties Lawyer will be responsible for managing a caseload of Post-Inquest Civil Claims and Actions Against the Police matters.

The team provide outstanding client care to their clients.

The day-to-day responsibilities for the Civil Liberties Lawyer include:

  • Dealing with actions against the police
  • Supporting clients whose family members have died in prison or custody hospital or care setting or while detailed under the Mental Health Act
  • Guiding clients through the process providing support and empathy
  • Discussing funding such as Legal Aid and advise clients if they qualify
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with existing clients and contacts
  • Participating in team meetings
  • Achieving chargeable hours and billing requirements
  • Supporting the marketing of the firm and department by sharing marketing articles and press releases sharing clients’ feedback and stories

 

Person Specification

Applications are sought from experienced Civil Liberties Lawyers, ideally with a minimum of 2 years PQE managing a caseload like that mentioned above. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A collaborative and positive approach to work
  • A flexible outlook with an ability to prioritise
  • A proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to build long lasting client relationships
  • Experience with Legal Aid funding
